With the Lions tour upcoming does anyone have an article or a topic to discuss?

I was just wondering, did the Lions tour South Africa during the apartheid era? I dont think they did. Just want to make sure.

The Lions certainly toured in South Africa in 1974 and 1980, which I suppose was during the height of Anti Apartheid feeling.
I am away from home and my reference library at the moment, so this isnt historical fact, but I seem to remember that on one or more of these tours some players refused to tour.

Well, the play is now well over,
What does it all mean in the gretaer picture of the lions history?
Is the whole concept still justified and valid (I think so!) or has professionalism killed the Lions ethos?
