Do We Want Advertising on the Website?
Advertising on the Society Website
All,
I have been approached by a company that specialises in these things to see if we would be interested in putting paid advertising on the main society website.
I do not have any details yet as to what this advertising would be for, how intrusive it would be or how much they are willing to pay towards society funds. I will ask for these details.
BUT... In general is this a route that we want to go down or are we happy with a non commercial site
Your comments and thoughts appreciated

Re: Advertising on the Society Website
I would say no, as a gut reaction. Of course, this depends entirely on what sort of adverts this includes.
If it is randomly generated adverts that could bring all sorts of lude or unrelated images and products to the page then it should be a no. If, however, there is targeted marketing that is relevant, i.e. a new rugby book, rugby tickets, rugby companies &c. this revenue could be used to subsidise the cost of the website.
Pip pip,

I actually intend to add a link to Amazon, one general which will help society funds (hopefully ) and speific links to books that have been published by members.
hopefully this will not be too intrusive!

I can't see why it would be too intrusive.
It is always useful to know what new books are available.
