Society Patron
I have been idly cogitating about attempting to get a patron for the society.
So far as I can discern for most similar societies these tend to be a well known celebrity from the sport, and preferably, one assumes, someone who has previously shown some interest in the societies subject matter.
the big questions are, and this I throw open to the floor...
Does the Society need a patron
Will it enhance the society
if yes to the above who should we approach
Answers on a postcard (or more preferably appended below).....

Re: Society Patron
I think a patron would be a great way of publicising the society and its aims.
I am sure there must be players/former players who have an interest in the history of the game - but as for a specific name, I am at a loss for the moment.

Not aware of any rugby playing historians. Academics like Tony Collins would not raise the profile, and current/recent professionals may be busy/commercial.
Suggest a 'historic' player like Gareth Edwards, but woud have no idea how to get hold of him. You could also try Paul Morgan at Rugby World, to see if they would promote and also print an appeal for patrons. paul_morgan@ipcmedia.com from the magazine
As the project has an international scope is it worth looking for country patrons, Aus, NZ , SA etc
